Nelson Mandela Foundation team together with Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi and reigning Miss SA Shudufhadzo Musida visited the White City Old Age Home. The NMF Chief Executive reflected on Madiba’s words when he said “Your parents & elders sacrificed much so that you should have freedom without suffering what they did”.

Nelson Mandela Foundation team with former Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi and reigning Miss SA, Shudufhadzo Musida visited Ikageng Youth Centre to share efforts of relief with vulnerable families that continue to battle hunger exacerbated by COVID19 and the recent unrest in communities in and around Soweto and helping with the clean-up work in Soweto.

Event Proceedings

The event was facilitated by Redi Tlhabi media personality, Oprah Winfrey and Graca Machel delivered a keynote address, followed by a conversation with Josina Z Machel, and Phumzile Mlabo-Ngcuka, an executive director of UN Women on their views relating to the dignity of women and a caring society that is equal and just to both men and women can be built.

The route retraced the steps of the motorcade that carried Mandela's body from 1 Military Hospital to the Unions Buildings , where he laid in state for five days after his dead four years ago. The day started with the wreath laying ceremony at the Union Buildings. The photographs are possibly taken with a 'fish-eye' lens.
