Nelson Mandela Foundation staff activities for the International Mandela Day at Ebenezer, a home for children in Walkerville. The activities of the day included cleaning, working in the bakery, working in the garden, reading to babies and children, and singing.
Scores of volunteers joined Vodacom staff at Vodaworld in Midrand assisting with the task of providing 17 000 food parcels for distribution to families in need. Volunteers came from, amongst others, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Blue Bulls, Orlando Pirates, Gauteng Department of Education.

The 3rd consecutive Nelson Mandela Day Marathon was held on 31 August 2014 under the rules of IAAF, AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races Distance), and the KZN Athletics Club. The event has 3 races categorized. It starts at the Manaye Hall in Imbali and finishes at The Nelson Mandela Capture Site, Howick. The above-mentioned races each meander through the beautiful breathtaking landscape of uMgungundlovu District Municipality passing historic sites along the way and ending at the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Runners who complete the race were awarded a unique Nelson Mandela Marathon medal which is symbolic of the day South Africa gained its freedom.

Each One Feed One distribution to needy community members in Songozima, KwaZulu-Natal by the Nelson Mandela Foundation in partnership with the Beast Foundation and Hulamin. The distribution took place at Kwakhetha Primary School where the Nelson Mandela Foundation Chief Executive Sello Hatang and other stakeholders addressed the pupils and community members.
