Afrapix Collective, 1980s, South Africa: [Set of 23 Images]

Afrapix was a documentary photographers' collective established by a small group of black and white photographers and political activists in 1982. It played a seminal role in the development of a socially informed school of documentary photography in apartheid South Africa. The group produced some of the most compelling photographic statements on apartheid and the popular uprising in the 1980s.Some nine photographers are represented in this small collection.

Burundi Peace Process – Arusha Peace Accord

Records created and accumulated during the course of Nelson Mandela’s role as Facilitator of the Burundi Peace Process. Most of the papers are typewritten, although there are a few notes handwritten by Mr. Mandela.
The creator of the collection is possibly Zelda La Grange.

HIV/Aids Focus Groups with Traditional Leaders

Photos of the launch of the programme and HIV/Aids focus group meetings with Traditional Leaders in the Eastern Cape, Limpopo and North West Provinces in South Africa during 2002 and 2003, as well as at the NMF. A training workshop for the co-ordinators is also included.
