Madiba at Home - Mvezo

Video recording of Nelson Mandela celebrating his 87th birthday in Mvezo, his birthplace. He is met by the chief of Mvezo and some community members. The children are asked what standard they are in school, some community members inform him about their participation in the struggle for liberation. Community members and the children sing happy birthday for him and he leaves.

The item consists of a video recording of Nelson Mandela receiving a copy of the book "Conversations with Myself" from his daughter Zindzi Mandela and struggle stalwart Ahmed Kathrada. It includes footage of Zindzi visiting the archive repository and viewing some of the original archival documents with Verne Harris, Head of the Centre of Memory.

Compilation of extracts from two speeches dated 21 September 2004 and 25 July 2007 where Mandela speaks about archives and memory. The compilation was made for the 2011 9th Annual Nelson Mandela Lecture where the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory was introduced.
