The departure of the 'Trek4Mandela' from the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
This expedition was established in 2012 when Richard Mabaso, Chief Executive Officer of the Imbumba Foundation, overheard a fearful conversation between his mom and niece about puberty. Richard invited his friend Sibusiso Vilane, the first black person in the world to conquer the Three Poles Challenge (reaching the South Pole, North Pole and Mount Everest), to lead him on his first expedition to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. The objectives of the climb were to: Create awareness about the challenges facing impoverished girls in rural and poor schools during their monthly cycles; Raise funds to purchase sanitary towels so that needy girls can go to school when having their menstrual period and to Educate people about Mandela Day and the need to take action beyond 18 July, thereby helping to make every day a Mandela Day.

An opening of the exhibition 'Mandela- Gandhi Wall' with Ela Gandhi, Birad Rajaran, Maniben Sita, Virendra Gupta as well as Sello Hatang. The interactive, multimedia display features photographs, QR(quick recognition) codes that can be read by cell phones which then play videos that Birad Rajaran has loaded on to the internet, and a game that visitors can play by answering questions on the back of cards (similar to postcards) and then matching the photo on the card with the one on the wall.

Cycalive was launched by Torah Academy, Moletsane High and Tladi Technical in 1998. Cycalive is an event for Grade 11 students of different cultural and religious backgrounds. Fifty learners are selected to represent the participating schools and cycle in relay from Johannesburg to Durban promoting the following goals:
-To build bridges and form bonds between young South Africans and their respective communities.
-To inspire Ubuntu - optimism and commitment for the common good of a positive future in South Africa.
-To raise funds for much needed educational projects.
-To highlight the importance of road safety and the ARRIVE ALIVE campaign particularly relating to cyclists.
-To encourage leadership and a spirit of adventure, personal challenge and self-confidence.

The Caring4Girls programme driven by the Imbumba Foundation tackles the plight of impoverished girls who often miss school during their menstrual cycles due to the lack of sanitary pads.

The aim of the Caring4Girls programme, which is a Mandela Day project, is to ensure access to much-needed sanitary towels so girls may stay in school, and ensure the development and growth of young South African women with dignity.
