The Nelson Mandela Foundation’s water drive, in partnership with Proudly South African, was a resounding success, with over 30-million litres of fresh water collected for donation to drought-stricken communities.
As part of the Operation Hydrate initiative, Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane kicked off this leg of the campaign at the Foundation on Friday 29 January.

Professor Ariel Dorfman reads to the students at Bertrams primary school as part of his Mandela Day commitments. After the reading the children had the opportunity to ask Professor Dorfman questions. Professor Dorfman used the reading as an opportunity to encourage the Grade 1, 2, 3 and 4 learners to read and to start writing, especially if they have the need to express themselves.
The 11th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture with Doctor Mo Ibrahim. The event was held at the University of South Africa (UNISA) on the 17th of August 2013. The theme for the lecture was “Building social cohesion”: a call for all South Africans to work towards a united, cohesive, democratic and national society. Dr Ibrahim’s address focused on the need for social cohesion not only in South Africa, but also between the 54 nations that make up the African continent.

The Mandela Legacy Cup: a public tribute that was held at Bidvest Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg . The Proteas played against the Springboks in a friendly cricket match with special performances from Johnny Clegg and Prime Circle, and public team signings to honour Madiba.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation’s CEO, Sello Hatang all geared up to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro. Hatang will be joined by 36 other climbers on Monday 13 July 2015 to challenge the Kilimanjaro.
