Nelson Mandela Foundation partnered with Thesele to assist with the food distribution network Each One Feed One. The organisations visited two beneficiaries. Nelson Mandela Foundation Executive Officer Sello Hatang and Mandela day and Special Projects Director Yase Godlo and Thesele Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Thabo Leeuw addressed the crowd. Distribution was done in Mamelodi for two beneficiaries.

An international artist Ms Sarah Gusten-Marr donates a painting to the Imbumba Foundation in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Trek4Mandela expedition. The Imbumba Foundation exhibits the painting at the Nelson Mandela Foundation for a short term as part of the build up to Trek4Mandela Expedition launch and send-off 2022.
In celebrating the memory and legacy of Nelson Mandela, the Gauteng City Region, City of Tshwane in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation hosted Mandela Remembrance walk and run event in the Union Buildings. The event was held virtually on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, with just a small number of people observing all COVID protocols and gathering at the Union Buildings to do a symbolic 6.7 kilometre walk through the streets of Tshwane in his memory and also to remember all the lives lost globally to the Coronavirus in 2020.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation and Joburg City Parks & Zoo have collaborated to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the passing of Madiba. Over the years, the Foundation has marked the event through dialogue on critical social issues. This year the celebration was marked by a special Nelson Mandela Day convening, opening a park in the Riverlea community. The park will stand in honour of Madiba's legacy, and the values that he espoused. It will be the tangible site for our One Million Tree Campaign, which aims to promote environmental justice, and food security and mitigate the impact of climate change.

The legacy of Nelson Mandela was given wings with the unveiling of the Mandela Day logo by South African Airways (SAA) on the first aircraft of its entire fleet. The new branded A330-200 Airbus, fourth out of six new aircraft, was revealed to sponsors and the media at the airways’ technical park in Johannesburg. Third Malibongwe dialogue with struggle stalwarts at the Turbine Hall in Johannesburg. The Malibongwe Dialogue, with and about stalwarts of the struggle for freedom, and the role that women played during those difficult, and often truly dark, years, achieved a remarkable level of candour, unmindful of organisational or ideological loyalties.
AIG Angel Wings Club, as part of its charity drive, donated toys, books and stationery, paid for by members of staff. The donation was channelled through the Nelson Mandela Foundation with clinical psychologist Jonathan Percale, CEO of Tara Hospital, Dr Florence Otienno and other senior staff presents.

The Black Stars, the national football team of Ghana, visit Winnie Madikizela-Mandela at her Soweto home and procceed to visit Nelson Mandela at his Houghton home after they lost in the 2010 World Cup Soccer tournament.
Nelson Mandela Foundation staff activities for the International Mandela Day at Ebenezer, a home for children in Walkerville. The activities of the day included cleaning, working in the bakery, working in the garden, reading to babies and children, and singing.
Launch of the ''Mandalas for Mandela'' exhibition. A collaboration between the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Arts Alive and Imbali Visual Arts and the Constitution Hill. The exhibition comprises Mandalas from students from 26 Gauteng schools. It was launched at Constitution Hill on 6 September 2011 to coincide with the Arts Alive festival.

The Launch of Mandela Day took place at the Tlatlohang Primary School, a disadvantaged school situated in White City, Jabavu As the emphasis for Nelson Mandela Day 2012 is being placed on raising youth through decent education, the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory – in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education – is driving some of South Africa’s most meaningful initiatives, namely the Container Library Project and the 94+ Schools Project, inspired to improve the conditions of our more impoverished schools and encourage literacy to children within our historically disadvantaged communities.
