It played a seminal role in the development of a socially informed school of documentary photography in apartheid South Africa. The group produced some of the most compelling photographic statements on apartheid and the popular uprising in the 1980s.Some nine photographers are represented in this small collection.

The shoot was for a new experience on Airbnb, which will include guests doing a Mandela day activity

Day 1 at Boys and Girls club in Betrams. There were volunteers that posed as Airbnb guests to do the experience, which is Mandela Day, assisting the woman that prepares food for the children and learning to play the Marimba instruments.

Day 2 at Siyakhala garden. Mandela day experience where the guests are required to work in the garden.

In conversation with Anant was internationally lauded South African anti-apartheid activist, actress, poet, director and author, Gcina Mhlope, and iconic South African musician and composer, Caiphus Semenya. The Foundation’s Chief Executive, Sello Hatang, facilitated the discussion.

The project helps to preserve thousands of documents, photographs, and audio-visual materials chronicling the life and times of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. Recommended by Google, the two institutions commissioned Ardon Bar-Hama to undertake the digitisation.
