From the back cover of the book:

This is the second collection of poetry from Akol Meyan Kuol. This work was written between 2000-2002.Akol's style has developed to suite the more direct and powerful nature of this new collection. The depth of feeling that he has for his homeland, Sudan, is clear from the passion with which he writes. These poems represent a cry from the heart for peace and freedom for the people of Sudan and the whole of Africa.

History of South Africa: From 1902 to the Present

South Africa was born in war, has been cursed by crises and ruptures, and today stands on a precipice once again. This book explores the country's tumultuous journey from the Second Anglo-Boer War to 2021. Drawing on diaries, letters, oral testimony and diplomatic reports, Thula Simpson follows the South African people through the battles, elections, repression, resistance, strikes, insurrections, massacres, crashes and epidemics that have shaped the nation.

Tracking South Africa's path from colony to Union and from apartheid to democracy, Simpson documents the influence of key figures including Jan Smuts, Nelson Mandela, Steve Biko, P.W. Botha, Thabo Mbeki and Cyril Ramaphosa. He offers detailed accounts of watershed events like the 1922 Rand Revolt, the Defiance Campaign, Sharpeville, the Soweto uprising and the Marikana massacre. He sheds light on the roles of Gandhi, Churchill, Castro and Thatcher, and explores the impact of the World Wars, the armed struggle and the Border War. Simpson's history charts the post-apartheid transition and the phases of ANC rule, from Rainbow Nation to transformation; state capture to 'New Dawn'. Along the way, it reveals the divisions and solidarities of sport; the nation's economic travails; and painful pandemics, from the Spanish flu to AIDS and Covid-19.

Occasion - Annual conference of the African National Congress Youth League
Summary - This address outlines the main threats in the world (imperialism, capitalism), in Africa (colonialism), and in South Africa (fascism). African Nationalism is seen as the response to these threats and the Youth League is seen as the guardian of this ideology. The Youth League should not continue to debate African Nationalism as an ideology but rather focus on how to mobilise the masses in a national struggle, how to respond to the Suppression of Communism Act and how to organise and discipline its members.

Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu window murals in Cape Town at the Civic Centre

The murals were illustrated by Artist Linsey Levendall. His illustrations were based on photographs of the great men by Matthew Willman (Mandela) and Andrew Zuckerman (Tutu). Levendal drew some of Cape Town’s most iconic features into the pattern of Madiba’s shirt, including Bo Kaap, penguins at Boulders Beach, Table Mountain, and a minstrel at the Kaapse Klopse, and the King Protea. Archbishop Tutu’s shirt contained imagery that invoked the anti-apartheid Struggle as well as the core political values of non-racialism, freedom, togetherness, and peace.

Thank you message to Prince Albert and Princess Caroline. "We have fought for peace and reconciliation, for social justice for all man, women and children to live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. These are ideals I still believe in, ideals I still live for but the time has come for me to fully handover my work to my charities; the Nelson Mandela Foundation, the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and the Mandela Rhodes Foundation. Memory is a vital force in the life of people and nation and can help unite a divided society, my foundation will continue to bring people together providing a safe space especially for those who disagree and talk to each other. Our love for children is undiminished their innocence and energy, their happiness and welfare must be protected and treasured, it is their laughter that I yearned for most while in prison, my children fund will continue to bring hope to children and young people. A new generation of African leaders is beginning to emerge on the African continent" - Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela also mentions the support and assistance Prince Albert and Princess Caroline gave to his charities through A.M.A.D.E and says they should continue the work and memory of Princess Grace in protecting and promoting children's rights globally.
