The Civics Academy is an online learning platform to inform and strengthen democratic values and responsible citizenship among young people. It is an initiative between the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation. The Nelson Mandela Foundation hosted the screening of Shepherds and Butchers, produced by Anant Singh and Brian Cox. A panel discussion on the death penalty preceded the screening; with David Moisi, who was previously on death row and Anant Singh.
The commemorative Life of a Legend series is part of the Protea coin series and over the next 12 years a series of coins will be released depicting important scenes from Mandela's life journey. These are complemented by quotes taken from his speeches and autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom.
