Conversation with Prof Muhammad Yunus, in collaboration with WDB Group (Women’s Development Businesses), SEF (Small Enterprise Foundation) and AMFISA (Association of Micro Finance Institutions of South Africa). An all-day dialogue session with thought leaders, South Africa’s foremost social entrepreneurship patrons and practitioners, the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, civil society, government, and members of the South African media. Other partners such as the WDB, African Development Bank (ADB), Banking Council, Independent Development Trust (IDT) and other microfinance institutions including the broader community of social entrepreneurs participated in this session. Professor Yunus aimed at stimulating a robust dialogue and conversation about microcredit, microfinance or social business as a tool to address poverty, based on the Grameen Bank model.
Dialogue on 'Archives at Crossroads' which was organised by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and co-convened with the National Archives and the Constitution of Public Intellectual Life Research Project. The Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory hosted a Donor Recognition Ceremony.Tokyo Sexwale and Irene Menell gave Legacy Champion certificates to the Government of India & Vodacom (Pty) Ltd. The Government of India was also recognised for its contribution to the Centre’s building with the unveiling of a plaque at the front entrance. At the ceremony, the Centre of Memory also received a mechanical boost by way of a vehicle donated by Volkswagen SA and a commitment from comedian and actor, Eddie Izzard to a future donation. Izzard is in South Africa to run 27 marathons in 27 days in honour of the 27 years Nelson Mandela spent in prison.

Alf Kumalo shares with the audience on his experiences with Nelson Mandela and the family and later travelling with him on different trips. Jurgen Schaderberg shares his early memories of Madiba as the ANC volunteer in chief, as well as when Madiba was involved with other people participating in the defiance campaign. Nelson Mandela visits his home in Vilakazi street Orlando West Soweto with grandsons with grandsons Nkosi Zwelivelile (Mandla) and Ndaba together with a young great grand daughter. The home has been turned into a museum managed by the Soweto heritage trust and the family is given a guided tour.
