Professor Ariel Dorfman, a Chilean-American author, human rights activist and distinguished professor of Literature and Latin-American Studies presented the Eighth Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture on 31 July 2010. The venue for the lecture was Johannesburg’s Linder Auditorium. The theme of the lecture was: Memory, Justice and Reconciliation.

The 14th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture 2016 was delivered by Bill Gates on the eve of International Mandela Day at the University of Pretoria’s Mamelodi Campus. Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, addressed the theme “Living Together” in his lecture.

This item consists of an envelope addressed to the legal firm of Pillay Seedat & Co. For security reasons, Judge Pillay had a family member mail an empty envelope to the firm. This precaution was taken to protect Mac Maharaj and Judge Pillay in the event of an interrogation by Security Police. The Judge could then say that he had received the documents from an unknown source through the post.
This item consists of a letter written by Nelson Mandela to the legal firm of Seedat Pillay & Co. that was smuggled out of Robben Island Prison. Mandela wished to appoint the firm to act on his behalf in legal proceedings against the Department of Prisons. Since the authorities refused to allow him contact with his attorneys, he had to use this "illegal" method to seek legal representation.
23 interviews conducted by Anna Trapido in the making of her cookbook "Hunger for Freedom" a gastro-political biography of Mr. Mandela's journey from his boyhood through his life before and after his imprisonment, to the presidential banquets. It includes some personal and political anecdotes of people who were involved in one way or the other with Mr. Nelson Mandela. Transcripts of most interviews are available as printouts and electronic copies on CD.
