Happy Science, a Tokyo-based international religious organisation, handed over a Mandela Day Container Library to Tshifudi Primary School in Tshifudi Village, Vhembe Municipality, Limpopo, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF).
After the passing of Mr. Nelson Mandela, Happy Science established HS Nelson Mandela Fund as its internal fund in order to advance in the will of Mr. Mandela; aiming to nurture future leaders of the world and support people who cannot receive education due to poverty, or racial, gender and caste discrimination, people who are opposed by their government and people who cannot receive medical treatment.

An opening of the exhibition 'Mandela- Gandhi Wall' with Ela Gandhi, Birad Rajaran, Maniben Sita, Virendra Gupta as well as Sello Hatang. The interactive, multimedia display features photographs, QR(quick recognition) codes that can be read by cell phones which then play videos that Birad Rajaran has loaded on to the internet, and a game that visitors can play by answering questions on the back of cards (similar to postcards) and then matching the photo on the card with the one on the wall.

It played a seminal role in the development of a socially informed school of documentary photography in apartheid South Africa. The 3rd consecutive Nelson Mandela Day Marathon was held on 31 August 2014 under the rules of IAAF, AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races Distance), and the KZN Athletics Club. The event has 3 races categorized. It starts at the Manaye Hall in Imbali and finishes at The Nelson Mandela Capture Site, Howick. The above-mentioned races each meander through the beautiful breathtaking landscape of uMgungundlovu District Municipality passing historic sites along the way and ending at the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Runners who complete the race were awarded a unique Nelson Mandela Marathon medal which is symbolic of the day South Africa gained its freedom.
