Happy Science, a Tokyo-based international religious organisation, handed over a Mandela Day Container Library to Tshifudi Primary School in Tshifudi Village, Vhembe Municipality, Limpopo, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF).
After the passing of Mr. Nelson Mandela, Happy Science established HS Nelson Mandela Fund as its internal fund in order to advance in the will of Mr. Mandela; aiming to nurture future leaders of the world and support people who cannot receive education due to poverty, or racial, gender and caste discrimination, people who are opposed by their government and people who cannot receive medical treatment.

Session one: A roundtable debate about the Expropriation without Compensation ignores threats to the property rights of the rural poor contained in bills before Parliament. The debate was facilitated by Sumaya Hendricks, and key speakers were Dr Annika Claasens and Mbhekiseni Mavuso.

Session two: screening of “This Land” documentary and dialogue on the future of land reform in South Africa, reflecting on the Constitutional Review Process and engaging with the proposed legislation. The dialogue was facilitated by Nokwanda Sihlali from the Land and Accountability Research Centre, the panellist were Emily Tjale, Constance Mogale, Mbhekiseni Mavuso, Nozuko Poni. The audience asked questions and made comments on the documentary.

Photos of the deacidification of the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF) Archive in four folders taken by Lucia Raadschelders and Razia Saleh. The first folder contains photos of the training staff members by Chief Librarian Isaac Nkadimeng, Christian Legodi and Magretia Masebe of the South African Library, Tshwane.
The second folder shows loaded crates ready to be transported to the National Library. The third folder shows photos of Canadian interns, Jamila Ghaddar and Katrina Cohen-Palacios dusting and returning materials to their boxes after being treated at the National Library. The fourth folder contains photos taken by Razia Saleh at the NMF reception with Zunelle Breytenbach, Zanele Riba, Ethel Arends, as well as Florence Garishe.

Thembekile Mandela Memorial Stone Unveiling Ceremony

The Touwsrivier Heritage and Conservation Society hosted a Memorial Stone Unveiling Ceremony at the Gideon Joubert Memorial Park, Jane Street, Touwsrivier, in the honour of the personal sacrifices of the Mandela Family and to commemorate 50th anniversary since the passing away of Thembekile Mandela and others who died in a car accident just outside Touwsrivier on 13 July 1969.

Ndileka and Nandi Mandela, daughters of the late Madiba Thembekile Mandela unveiled the Memorial Stone, planted two trees near the entrance of Touwsrivier and also planted an Aloe at the accident site along the N1, while Mayor Alderman Antoinette Steyn and Deputy Mayor unveiled an information sign detailing the story surrounding the accident.

Zoleka and Zindzi Mandela, the granddaughter and daughter of Mr Nelson Mandela, supporting the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 by helping to set up a scholarship for road safety in memory of 13-year-old Zenani Mandela, who tragically died in a car crash on the eve of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
