Celebration of 10 years of Mandela Day at Germiston Civic Centre, the event was organised by the City of Ekurhuleni in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The City of Ekurhuleni invited city veterans that are 100 years to the celebration.

Main speakers for the event were Mr Lebogang Mahile (MEC for Housing). Moyo restaurant took party packs, face painters and drummers to the Umthombo Street Children in Durban and the Charlotte Maxeke hospital in Johannesburg. They also provided entertainment at a care centre for disabled children in Khayelitsha.
Roedean School collected blankets and food for organisations which care for orphans and vulnerable children.

Nelson Mandela hails one of the wisdom and bravery fighters such as Siqungathi , Makhado and Mampuru being the good at warfare as well as guerrilla tactics. In the interview Nelson Mandela mentions how the missionaries helped in the educating the new generation of leaders like Seme, Xuma himself and Oliver R. Tambo and all his other comrades were products of missionary education but not of the government of South Africa at the time. The Nelson Mandela Foundation and Joburg City Parks & Zoo have collaborated to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the passing of Madiba. Over the years, the Foundation has marked the event through dialogue on critical social issues. This year the celebration was marked by a special Nelson Mandela Day convening, opening a park in the Riverlea community. The park will stand in honour of Madiba's legacy, and the values that he espoused. It will be the tangible site for our One Million Tree Campaign, which aims to promote environmental justice, and food security and mitigate the impact of climate change.
