Day 1 at Boys and Girls club in Betrams. There were volunteers that posed as Airbnb guests to do the experience, which is Mandela Day, assisting the woman that prepares food for the children and learning to play the Marimba instruments.

The Concert for Refugees was dedicated to the strength and courage of refugees. The aim of the concert was to encourage public awareness and support of the refugees through this celebration. The concert was organised by Turquoise Harmony Institute (THI) and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, and other institutions.

The Mandela Materials Database is a guide to the Mandela archive located with the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and Dialogue and elsewhere. Both local and international repositories have been surveyed for any material on Mr Mandela to include in the database. The purpose of this database is to point researchers to the relevant repositories holding the actual archival material. Although much of the material identified in the database does not relate directly to the Rivonia Trial, it has been referenced here as Mandela was one of the main protagonists in the Rivonia Trial. Any material directly related to the Rivonia Trial as been cross-referenced in this database.

The Launch of Mandela Day took place at the Tlatlohang Primary School, a disadvantaged school situated in White City, Jabavu As the emphasis for Nelson Mandela Day 2012 is being placed on raising youth through decent education, the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory – in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education – is driving some of South Africa’s most meaningful initiatives, namely the Container Library Project and the 94+ Schools Project, inspired to improve the conditions of our more impoverished schools and encourage literacy to children within our historically disadvantaged communities.
