The personal papers of Ruth First The collection is made up of background material, correspondence and reviews concerning "No Easy Walk to Freedom" edited by Ruth First. Printed copies of Nelson Mandela’s speech at the Rivonia Trial. Drafts of sections of the book, and a typescript of Mary Benson’s statement before the UN Special Committee on Apartheid in 1964, with handwritten alterations. Correspondence, mainly between Ruth First and Heinemann Publishers, as well as clippings of newspaper reviews. Material on political detention between 1963 and 1970, including a copy of the 1963 Detention Act, a radio script by Mary Benson entitled "Nelson Mandela and the Rivonia Trial," and notes produced by Ruth First. Press releases and conference papers concerning the Symposium on the exploitation of Blacks in South Africa and Namibia, organized by the United Nations in 1978, with observances of the 60th birthday of Nelson Mandela. Transcripts of interviews with Robben Island political prisoners. Correspondence from friends and acquaintances, and materials from South African newspapers concerning the Rivonia Trial.

These recordings were generated in the preparation and editing of the "Long Walk to Freedom" book and Anthony Sampson's authorised biography. In both of these projects, Ahmed Kathrada worked closely with Sampson and Stengel (who provided professional support for "Long Walk to Freedom") and Mandela. Transcription and digitisation is in process.
One transcribed extract (extract 5) relates to the Rivonia Trial as Mandela tells Kathrada about a conversation he had with a warder at Pretoria Local Prison during the trial about the fate of the accused.

The Mandela Materials Database is a guide to the Mandela archive located with the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and Dialogue and elsewhere. Both local and international repositories have been surveyed for any material on Mr Mandela to include in the database. The purpose of this database is to point researchers to the relevant repositories holding the actual archival material. Although much of the material identified in the database does not relate directly to the Rivonia Trial, it has been referenced here as Mandela was one of the main protagonists in the Rivonia Trial. Any material directly related to the Rivonia Trial as been cross-referenced in this database.

This extensive collection was purchased by UNISA from Cooperative Africana Microfilm Project (CAMP). It is housed in Documentation Centre for Africa Studies. A microfilm reel guide is also available there. Rivonia Trial material is found at 2:YR2:84, 92, 97, and 99. The Nelson Mandela Foundation invited Chief Khosi Vho Ravele R.R., five learners and five coordinators from Maulume Village to visit the Nelson Mandela Foundation and other legacy sites within Johannesburg. The trip was to give the learners an opportunity to learn about the history of their country as future leaders.

Nelson Mandela Foundation partnered with Thesele to assist with the food distribution network Each One Feed One. The organisations visited two beneficiaries. Nelson Mandela Foundation Executive Officer Sello Hatang and Mandela day and Special Projects Director Yase Godlo and Thesele Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Thabo Leeuw addressed the crowd. Distribution was done in Mamelodi for two beneficiaries.
Each One Feed One distribution in Ikageng centre in Orlando West Soweto. The Nelson Mandela Foundation Executive Officer Sello Hatang addressed the beneficiaries and assistance with packing the food parcels.
An international artist Ms Sarah Gusten-Marr donates a painting to the Imbumba Foundation in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Trek4Mandela expedition. The Imbumba Foundation exhibits the painting at the Nelson Mandela Foundation for a short term as part of the build up to Trek4Mandela Expedition launch and send-off 2022.
In celebrating the memory and legacy of Nelson Mandela, the Gauteng City Region, City of Tshwane in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation hosted Mandela Remembrance walk and run event in the Union Buildings. The event was held virtually on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, with just a small number of people observing all COVID protocols and gathering at the Union Buildings to do a symbolic 6.7 kilometre walk through the streets of Tshwane in his memory and also to remember all the lives lost globally to the Coronavirus in 2020.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation and Joburg City Parks & Zoo have collaborated to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the passing of Madiba. Over the years, the Foundation has marked the event through dialogue on critical social issues. This year the celebration was marked by a special Nelson Mandela Day convening, opening a park in the Riverlea community. The park will stand in honour of Madiba's legacy, and the values that he espoused. It will be the tangible site for our One Million Tree Campaign, which aims to promote environmental justice, and food security and mitigate the impact of climate change.

Malala's visit to the Nelson Mandela Foundation and receives a tour of the Archive, temporary and permanent exhibitions including Nelson Mandela's post-presidential office. She took a group photo with the staff of the Foundation outside next to Madiba's statue.
Pillay speaks here for the first time, of the days of exile and working with Oliver Tambo; of Operation Vula; the return home; and most tellingly of his time at SARS and the insidious campaign against him and others in the top layers of what once was a world-class tax institution. The story pulls back the curtains on a party and state which once held the moral high ground, but was debased.
