United States Embassy (South Africa) reports that the African National Congress (ANC) was created to carry out sabotage, stating that the arrest of Nelson Mandela occurred after he planned subversive activities (1962). A memorandum issued by the Summit Conference of Independent African States held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (1963), agreeing to provide funding to help South African liberation movements and calling for the release from prison of Nelson Mandela, Robert Sobukwe and all other political prisoners. A memorandum on the Rivonia Trial providing biographical information on the Rivonia Trialists, and in which Nelson Mandela argues that opposition groups resorted to armed struggle only after avenues for peaceful change were blocked (1964). Collection of gifts and awards presented to Nelson Mandela during his tenure as the first democratically elected President of South Africa. The collection includes gifts from Heads of State, well-known personalities, and ordinary citizens from across the world.
There are gifts from former US President Bill Clinton, current US President George W. Bush, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, and the late Yasser Arafat. There are gifts from children ranging between the ages of 3 and 18 from across the world, as well from former anti-apartheid activists. The awards include honorary fellowships, Freedom of the City awards, honorary citizenships, honorary degrees, peace and human rights awards, literary awards, media awards and orders of merit from more than 50 countries around the world. Amongst these are the Nobel Peace Prize, one of thirteen existing facsimiles of the Salisbury Magna Carta, and the Official Presidential Medallion commemorating President Nelson Mandela’s inauguration in 1994.

Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation International Honorary Award 2021 presented to the Nelson Mandela Foundation by Mrs. Vardinoyannis, in the presence of the CEO of the "Nelson Mandela Foundation" Mr. Sello Hatang. The Nelson Mandela Foundation was presented with the award for its significant work and the legacy of Nelson Mandela that lead to a fairer and more humane world.

In her introductory speech, Mrs. Vardinoyannis spoke about the legacy of the great fighter and stressed that following Mandela's teachings, the new generation can change the world.
