This series consists of 28 notebooks, 11 folders of notes written on a variety of sheets of paper, in notebooks and diaries by Nelson Mandela. It also includes 2 diaries kept by his secretaries.
It contains Nelson Mandela’s handwritten notes from the time of his release until his retirement from politics. There are also desk diaries from the Presidential period. It documents deliberations, personal thoughts, important meetings with heads of state, ANC meetings and communication with comrades, formal and informal discussion with people from all walks of life. Also included are notes received from other people by Mr Mandela.

Collection of paper-based material from the period when Nelson Mandela was president. The material was among the Children's correspondence that was written to Mr Mandela and Mrs Rosa Parks. The material was separated with the intention to send it back to the National Archives. The process has been very long and the Nelson Mandela Foundation decided to accession it for accountability purposes.

After the discussusssion Mandla and Madiba is taken to the farmstead to inspect cattle and there is a discussion on the cattle. The team then proceeds to the Mandela family graveyard and is later joined by other members of the family. Later Winnie Madikizela Mandela arrives with Zinzdi for a joint birthday celebration for Zindzi and Ndaba where a meal is shared after a toast. Next day Mrs Machel and Madiba are having breakfast with Malenga Machel in the Qunu. Madiba and Mrs Machel proceed to the balcony and interact with the videographers.

Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela visit OR Tambo in the hospital in Stockholm after his stroke. The first photograph was taken at Haga castle the day Mr Tambo and Mr Mandela had just met for the first time in 28 years. This picture is from the mingling afterwards at Haga castle, the others from the hospital and a young doctor Beth von Schreeb (at that time she went by the surname Henriksson).
