Since the onset of the Troubles in 1971, Nationalist and Loyalist communities throughout Northern Ireland have been divided by Peace Walls. These large stone and steel constructions were designed to protect neighbourhoods from sporadic attacks and retain a sense of peace and protection. Of the city's 17 walls, West Belfast's sections are the most visited.
On the 7th Of June 1990, on his first trip abroad after imprisonment, Nelson Mandela visited the City of Paris and gave a speech. He was received like a head of state, although he was not one at the time. Accompanied by Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela, that trip to France came with a clear message that "France must support a new & reformed South Africa". Four years later, Nelson Mandela became the first black democratic President of South Africa. A few weeks after his election, François Mitterr became the first Head of State to be received on an official visit by Madiba. The garden was opened in May 2018, after 5 years of work. Zandile Myeka, a Metadata and Photographs Archivist at the Nelson Mandela Foundation visited the garden in July 2024, and took photographs of the €40 million, four hectares green space garden.

Budapest establishes a memorial park in honour of Nelson Mandela on the northern slope of Gellért Hill, the Mayor’s Office. Nelson Mandela Park, occupying 5,000sqm of lawns and a wooded area, will be the city’s first permanent landscaped artwork. To commemorate this historic occasion, the Nelson Mandela Music Tribute (NMMT) on 18, 19 & 20 July at Praia do Aterro, Matosinhos, Porto, Portugal benefited the Nelson Mandela Foundation and local Portuguese charities including Apela.
The event was presented by the Municipality of Matosinhos / Porto and the Embassy of South Africa together with Score Music in association with Thirty-Three Productions, Inc., which joined together to organise a fitting musical tribute to Mandela and his legacy of achieving social change through peaceful means and dialogue.

NMMT featured a star-studded lineup of world-class musical artists, award-winning actors, and celebrated dignitaries, with 100% of the net proceeds donated to charity.

Vardinoyannis Foundation International Honorary Award 2021 presented to the Nelson Mandela Foundation by Mrs. Vardinoyannis, in the presence of the CEO of the "Nelson Mandela Foundation" Mr. Sello Hatang. The Nelson Mandela Foundation was presented with the award for its significant work and the legacy of Nelson Mandela that lead to a fairer and more humane world.

Nelson Mandela's first statue in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia unveiled on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This collection is made up of all the videos, audio and photographic material from the 46664 campaigns, concerts and birthday messages to Nelson Mandela. The first concert was held at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa on the 23 of November 2003. The second concert was held at Fancourt country club and golf estate in George, Western Cape, South Africa in 2005. The third was a two day Festival in Spain Madrid. The fourth one was held in London Hyde Park in 2008. The fifth one was held in Johannesburg, Ellis Park as a 46664 HIV and AIDS awareness campaign on the 1st of December2007. In 2009 the concert was held at the Radio city hall in New York, the celebration included Nelson Mandela's birthday celebration and the launch of the international Mandela day as July 18th was recognised as a day dedicated to serve others in ones community. .
