President Nelson Mandela will visit Kampala, Uganda on 26 January 1998, at the invitation of President Yoweri Museveni, to attend the twelfth anniversary celebrations of the National Resistance Movement. The visit is a further indication of the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy President Mbeki will also visit Uganda to attend the Regional Summit Meeting of the World Bank, which will be take place in Kampala on 24 January 1998. This Summit, which will also be attended by several regional Heads of State and Government, will review the World Bank's role in Africa and examine and define areas of cooperation in the light of changing realities and challenges facing the continent.
