A resolution of the very highest tribute with the Senate's most cordial welcome to:
Mr Nelson Mandela and Mrs. Winnie Mandela
On their sojourn in Michigan this summer. Only once in a lifetime do we have the opportunity to honor such deserving individuals. Mr Mandela endured nearly three decades of imprisonment because he dared to raise his voice in protest against Africa's oppressive apartheid regime. Now that he has at last attained freedom, we are delighted to welcome him to the renaissance city of Detroit and we hope that he and his dear wife enjoy their visit to the Great Lake State,

Whereas, Michigan and Detroit are very proud to make Mr Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and his dear wife, Mrs. Winnie Mandela, welcome in our midst. This dynamic gentleman, a person of courage and fortitude, has awakened the freedom-loving impulses in each of us, and his search for justice has instilled in people throughout the worlda yearning and a greater motivation to also work for equallity and justice in their communities, nations, and lives; and
