Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, President of nonracial and democratic South Africa is a symbol of hope of the oppressed. Indians have known him for decades. His pictures have a place of adoration in millions of houses in
India. He has inspired both young and old of all walks, stratas, colours, and creeds.
The citizens of New Delhi honour Nelson Mandela as a valient freedom fighter who, had courageously led the just struggle of his people against descrimination and human indignity. In the process, he and his comrades in the African National Congress have undergone hardships and had made great sacrifices without any parallels in the world.
Freedom loving people the world over salute President Mandela for his principled and determined struggle against humiliation, discrimination, repression, and physiological and psychological violence inflicted on his fellow men. His struggle has inspired and mobilised the millions of people in fight for equality, justice, and an end to racist system with the aim to establish a society on nonracial and democratic principles. He and the African National Congress built a powerful movement opposing the racialist, colonialists, and their collaborators.

The biggest task which his people face today is of building a new South Africa without parochialism and racial boundaries creating a society where people of all races will live in happinmess and prosperity.
