White certificate housed in dark blue tube and engraved in gold with the university seal and the following text: "Universiteit van Pretoria, University of Pretoria, Pres N R Mandela, LLD (Honoris Causa), 4 December 1997". Taken out of tube for preservation.
Certificate has the gold, blue, and red seal of the University at the top. Stamped seal of the University is located at the bottom left of certificate. Thin gold border surrounds certificate text and images. Certificate text, in blue and gold, reads:

The Council and Senate hereby declare that at a congregation of the University the degree

Honoris Causa
with all the associated rights and privileges was conferred on
